Ballina Itself

Ballina is situated on the Far North Coast of NSW and boasts some of Australia’s finest beaches, freshwater rivers and natural rainforests. There is a thriving town centre where you can shop, eat and be entertained.

Riverbend is within strolling distance of all of the amenities of West Ballina shopping centre including Bunnings, a hairdresser, supermarket, baker and newsagent. There’s a local pharmacy and a doctor’s surgery. Restaurant, bottle shop and local tavern as well as Ballina’s famous fish markets – so you don’t have to go far for the essentials!

The Region

The Northern Rivers region is renowned for its scenery and natural beauty. Pristine beaches, unbeatable sports and leisure facilities as well as proximity to Byron Bay, the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

The university town of Lismore is a little over 30 minutes away and from there it’s easy access to the wide plains of Casino, Kyogle or the rainforests of Mt Warning and the Nightcap National Park.

Ocean and Rivers

Ballina has wonderful surf beaches, with the most popular in the north of the town. Shelly Beach is a patrolled beach, also patrolled is Lighthouse (near the coast guard tower) and the safe, salt water, swimming beach at Shaws Bay Lake.

The coastline is a sea changer’s dream with sheltered coves, vast ocean beaches and some of the world’s finest surf breaks. More than thirty kilometres of white beaches from Ballina to Lennox Head await you. Relax along the wonderful coastline which has been carefully regenerated by local dune care groups.

From May to October, Ballina becomes a mecca for whale watching. Seek any vantage point (just follow the locals) and wait to see these magnificent humpbacks make their annual migration.

Just 400 metres away from Riverbend Village Ballina is a boat ramp down to the Richmond River estuary. Take the fishing line, slide the tinny in and explore!
